I think it’s tedious, challenging and time consuming to research and gather information before purchasing a product/service or hiring a consultant/coach. If we don’t know much about the product/service or consultant/coach, quite often we don’t know what questions to ask. Recently, I had that experience, as I started the arduous process to gather information, evaluate and hire a web designer. Because of my limited knowledge and experience with the technical side of web designing, I didn’t know what to ask for. I found myself hoping and expecting that the web designers I interviewed would help me ask the right questions to gather the information. Yes, I asked other business colleagues for their recommendations. I soon discovered some of the web designers I had interviewed didn’t have the best skills and knowledge to help me. I became very disappointed and frustrated after investing many dollars in a web designer who couldn’t complete the project.
